Repo a Truck Camper???

I have a 2yo 2018 Travellite 770, I live in it full time (with other option) and still owe $11k. A stilt is falling off, step broke, shower and other things don't work. The thing is more or less totaled. I'm so tired of the endless repairs that I can't afford that I'm prepared to let my credit sink and tell the bank to come get it.
Can they even do that? It's sitting on the ground at the moment. Many Google searches have come up with NOTHING about repoing a truck camper that's on the ground. Also, a stilt isn't working and requires a specific tool to crank. Thanks.

  • How does a 2-year old TC get "totaled" from normal use? Is it THAT bad of a product, or are you THAT poor of a steward of your possessions? On to your actual question. If you seriously want it repossessed, just stop making payments on it. Whether or not the lender comes to get it anytime soon, or ever, is no longer your problem. They then own the unit.
  • 1) If you can make the payments, you have an obligation to pay it off. The condition of the unit has nothing to do with the responsibility that you agreed to take on.
    2) Assuming the loan has the camper listed as collateral...yes, they can come take it.
    3) If you make it difficult for them to get it, they can include the cost to do so when they total everything up.
    4) You will still owe the $11k, any cost to repo it and probably some other fees and penalties.
    5) Unless you are filing full bankruptcy, they can sue you for the difference and take other stuff from you.

I would guess you are in for $15-20k if you force them to repo it by the time all is done and said. Well worth the trouble to file against you to recover their losses, so unless you are otherwise without any assets probably not the best option.
  • Respectfully, I've taken great care of it, it's been my HOME for two years. I simply asked CAN THEY REPO IT? As I said, I have other living options, I don't see how my lifestyle is relevant.
  • Respectfully,

Suck it up, buttercup. You signed on the dotted line. Life 'aint no dress rehearsal. Live up to your obligations... the self-pride of doing so will make it (and you) better in the long run.
  • Sounds like you don't take care of your things and are also willing to sacrifice your credit.

Sounds more like a lifestyle issue than a repo issue....For questions of this nature I usually shake then consult my trusty 8” ball...
