New Steel Pine Cargo Trailer 8.5x16 Damaged Upon Delivery
I’m looking for feedback on a new trailer I purchased from Clarksville Tn.
I live in Louisiana and I made my first mistake buy purchasing a new trailer from a dealer out of state and delivered.
I paid there 3rd party delivery company 900 to have it delivered. It was purchased on 11/18/2024 and it was delivered at night time on 11/19/2024. Upon delivery I did not inspect it because it was dark outside and the following day when it was daylight I went out and inspected it. I found mostly poor cosmetics throughout. The 3 items I was most concerned about was the lower trimming went beyond the wheel well flares sticking out in the wheel well area and causing the flares to twist outward. Also it has semi screwed polycore panels .80. One of the panels were slightly to long and was not laying flat at the bottom creating an area bowing out and not laying flat. And lastly the rear spoiler overhead entry lights were not working. On 12/11/24 I started tracing down this concern to see why the lights were not coming on. The plastic battery box secured to the trailer tongue had a zip tie keeping it closed. I removed the zip tie and opens the box and to my surprise it had multiple wires melted together with copper wires extremely exposed throughout. And prior to finding of the melted wires I contacted the sales rep and management on 11/19/2024. I have a show coming up for my business on 12/13 thru 12/15 and do not want to use the trailer with potential fire concern and further damaging the trailer with electrical concerns. So I contacted an electrical company and they came out on 12/11/24 and inspected the wiring and to verify the damage. Upon inspection the electrician said the wires were melted together exposing copper wire going from the tongue of the trailer all the way up into the trailer until he could not see it anymore without pulling the inside wall panels for further inspection.
I have contacted the management and sales rep from day one and all they said was for me to find a way to get it to them which is about a 10 hour way each way and then they will fix it. I don’t believe I should have to go through all of this since they failed to do a pre-delivery inspection. This is a new trailer that I can now no longer use because of the seriousness of the electrical concern. I cancelled my business event and now they are starting to turn their head and divert me to the warranty company. I am so frustrated with this whole situation and with myself for making a purchase without going to physically touch it and put my eyes on it first. Not sure if there is anything I could do or not. I’m kinda in the mercy of them and hoping that they would be good and decent people by doing the right thing and taking care of me, their customer. They are always extremely helpful on the front end of the deal but now the purchase was made it’s like I don’t exist. I do have to say that the sales rep has been very kind all the way around and it got to the point where he informed me that he was being scolded every time he brought me and the concerns I was having to upper management. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks and Gods Blessings!
