101NB/Gaviota tunnel clearance?

I've searched the net and come up with varying heights for the clearance on the Gaviota tunnel northbound on 101 north of Santa Barbara. Lowest I've found is 14', highest I've seen reported is 17'5". My trailer is listed at 13'10" but have never actually measured it.

Anyone drive this route with a high RV without issue?

Pulled our 38' Montana through going both directions several times with no problem. If you're concerned, plan ahead and split the lanes and ride the center though the tunnel.

The Winnebao website lists 12'4" as the height of your 5th wheel.......best to actually measure with it hooked up...LINK

Huge semitrucks go through those tunnels all the time.

Caltrans has a list of tunnels on state highways with clearance of less than 14 feet:
