Traveling south with our 2016 Cedar Creek 36CKTS from Chincoteague. Book says trailer height is 13'-6" to front A/C. B&T clearance is 13'-6". Has anyone pulled this 5th wheel thru the tunnel? I have not measured the trailer, just going by what the book says.
Well I would be up on the roof measuring with the rig hooked up! :S
That measurement is based on when it left the factory, and sitting 100 percent level front to rear.
Very few of measurements listed in brochures are accurate, why trust that one???? :h - There's no issues. Nothing is allowed to be taller than 13' 6" without special permits. Most 18 wheelers are this tall. I've personally driven one the length of the bridge tunnel with no issues.
- Been through many times. You will have no issues. 18 wheeler's frequent the tunnel. There are no clearance issues.
- As long as your height is fine then you will enjoy this route. We use it alot. Be careful on the Norfolk side...don't get lost as there are some low clearances that would not be on your route normally...the Bay bridge website has more on these low clearances
. - If your 5er is 13'6" you won't have a clearance problem. Measure your height first. Don't believe the factory specs.
- Old-BiscuitExplorer IIIWith trailer hooked up.......actually get on roof and with a tape measure and a straight stiff pole MEASURE it.
13'6" is minimum MAX Height limit set by States (Majority of states)
13'6" max Chesapeake Bay Bridge & Tunnel ...your trailer 13'6" :H
Call and inquire!
Maryland Transportation Authority

- I would be very surprised if your fifth wheel was OVER 13-6" . . That is the average minimum height for any interstate. If you cant get into that tunnel ,you may want to rethink owning it. get up and measure the height
