2020 Travel Plans

Dogs traveling? He knows its his truck & camper.

Puppy! That's great! Our plans changed a lot due to the situation. After reading dutchmen travel trailer reviews we decided to have one and go for a trip.

Our friends just got to the house last night - North Idaho- to MN. and back. They pull a small travel trailer and had a quick visit with family. They came almost right home due to most places still closed, including RV parks. Museums and other attractions just weren't available.
We're all experiencing travel jitters. Check ahead, plan ahead, be safe, and enjoy the new pup.

I want to buy a new car and go on a road trip in August. What are good and inexpensive options? I was thinking about Honda Civic but not sure, any ideas? By the way, if someone plans to change car too, here is a great website to make car history check ***Link Removed***

I won't fly again for a while but the country is opening up...good or bad...have a great trip with the new puppy! Stay safe.

For the summer, we are looking at mostly hanging out at a local park and doing a few short weekend trips.

This fall we've got multiple irons in the fire depending on what is open:
- Do our usual overseas work in the winter with flying trips between work trips.
- Go hang out in Europe
- Go hang out in SE Asia
- Take the RV west from Michigan and do a month in Utah before heading SW thru Vegas and then a month in California before working our way back east thru Texas and then along the gulf coast.
- Worst case scenario would be if state borders were closed (unlikely) and then we would pick up an apartment locally for the winter.

Congratulations on the puppy. He/she will be so bonded with you after a road trip like that. What a difference between a relaxing road trip vs. a terrifying flight.

It will be interesting for the pup to only know your RV as "home" for the duration of the trip. His/her mind will be blown when you actually get back home off the road.

We adopted a puppy from a mean family almost two years ago and their home was four hours away. She was kind of apprehensive about just jumping in the truck with me, but she and I were pals by the time we got home just from talking with her and letting her smell all the smells through the back window.

We had an interesting phenomenon after a ten week / nineteen state trip last fall. We always had to watch the door with these two. Not that they'd charge the door, but one of them is pretty willful and would seize the opportunity to go explore if she could. After that trip though, I think she realized how far she was from home and that she'd be a fool to not stick close to her pack. Now we can leave the front door of the house open while we bring in groceries or open the garage door and dogs will just watch us but stay within their boundaries. She'll always be a willful booger, but she completely respects the boundaries now and taught her new sister to do the same. It's been an interesting byproduct of that big trip.
