I live near the "speed trap" in question.
In Luverne the speed does NOT go from 55 to 35 it is 45 to 35. It then slows down to 30 because you are entering a residential area then into downtown. Speed limit has been that way for YEARS.
In Brantley the motorist is warned at least a 1/4 mile from the SUV that takes the picture. There is a school across the street and its an old residential area as well. The speed limits have been posted the same for YEARS.
Before the "speed traps" were established the standard was 15-20 mph over whatever the limit was. It was dangerous for the locals to say the least.
I try my best to stay under the speed limit because I've seen the results of speeding and it's the LAW. Everyone today thinks it's their right to drive as fast as they want no matter the danger it puts everyone else in.
If you want to speed, knock yourself out. But don't whine when you get a ticket for doing it! Rant over.
