As a kid, 60 years ago, my parents would take me down there form So. Cal. for fun and sun. As an adult I have always been amazed at citizens of the United States going to Mexico for any reason. If allowed, I'm sure that every Mexican citizen would leave Mexico for good for the U.S., well maybe 10 - 12 would stay but they would be equally as crazy as the U.S. citizen who go to Mexico for any reason. Mexico is a grand s--t hole.
Wow, sad to see a response like this. Product of poor education? never being taught what the words respect or manners are?. Who knows what causes somebody to be mean and nasty. Regardless, its never too late to improve. Consider night school or on-line learning. Lots of ways to improve yourself out there. Until then consider not flaunting publicly your lack of knowledge of a subject as well as embarrassing your friends family and countrymen.
Buena suerte. :) - stew47ExplorerYea. You like Mexico or we are gonna call you mean nasty names. Sounds legit. Smells like liberals.
- navegatorExplorerI like the idea of keeping paradise to only those that appreciate it.
navegator - bigdog2ExplorerI first came to Baja in 1959 and came for weekends often when living in so. Ca. We moved to Arkansas in 1974 and couldn't make the trip until retirement in 2002. We have spent winters here since then. The only crime I know of was an atv was stolen a couple of years ago. That is some first hand information for you. :D
- briansueExplorerForgot to mention education. For many years my aunt worked at the Instituto de Allende where my uncle was also a teacher. Many well-known US artists taught at the Instituto and also at Balles Artes ( El Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y Literatura - - Ignacio Ramírez “El Nigromante” del Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes ) both of which are accredited in the US and have been since the 1940s.
San Miguel has also been famous for its Equestrian and dressage schools where Ecole de Caballo under Colonel Harold Black was once the go-to school for Olympic hopefuls from all over the world – there are still great riding schools in San Miguel.
Then there are the universities in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Guanajuato, (and I am sure Chris can add more) where students from all over the world can get world class educations.
Many from the US go to Mexico for health care – dental – eye glasses – where state-of-the-art facilities with state-of-the-art equipment can be found. We hear many stories from people who have received excellent health care in Mexico. Yes, there are exceptions just as there are elsewhere so let’s not get into that argument.
We just traveled the first leg of MX15 and so a great deal of construction which reminds me of all the new roads being built or rebuilt all over Mexico in recent years. The new road between Durango and Mazatlan is said to be one of the greatest feats for engineering in the history of the world – an amazing new road we hope to travel soon.
So sad that so many ignorant people have no idea of what Mexico is really about who feel a need to express their ignorance on this forum. - hacienda_contreExplorerOh yeah, and Rob, I get my Vitamin C in my tequila....
- hacienda_contreExplorerThe people are what makes Mexico unsurpassed in friendliness and hospitality. I married into a Mexican family 41 years ago and was accepted as family immediately, NEVER once was I made to feel unwelcome. The reason Sal and I came back to his roots has to do with economics, weather, and family, what more is there?
Granted there are problems here as there are anywhere in the world. The big problem of course at present is that an enterprising people are supplying the incessant demand for illegal substances north of the border. Most would be surprised that many of the problems are not even being caused by Mexicans, but other groups from other countries that can pass as Mexicans. Therefore I stand by my claim of a wonderful country with wonderful people. And I agree, most would have never left at all if other means of economic gratification had been available. Also agree that if you don't have anything nice to say we don't need you here. - Pangaea_RonExplorerRobatthelake
