Bears at Hyder

Late July was jackpot for us. We saw brown, black and a grizzly ! Someplace, I have an incredible picture of him looking right at me with a fish in his mouth.

Just left Stewart/Hyder area Saturday and nothing yet. I did see one black bear meandering near the pier in Hyder but thats all.

We were there last summer during the Canada Day-Independence Day week. No salmon, no brown bears. We were told they were at least two weeks away.

We did see one young black bear at the dump in Hyder. That's the only place you can always find bears in Stewart-Hyder when the fish are not running!

Which do you prefer, the salmon or the bears? :D

It is early for the fish and bears.
