Just planning my route and streets and trips takes me on highway 3 to I95 is this going to be a reasonable route towing? Should I take the transcanada and double back instead?

Here is another option. Mapquest Calgary AB to Spokane WA. You will get a route south out of Calgary on HWY 2. This goes through the Crowsnest Pass. Great historic site "Frank Slide". Also get the bonus of going through Sandpoint. Panhandler Pies - WOW.

We've travelled the routes through the Canadian Rockies quite a bit, both with a car and towing a trailer.

Hwy 3 is a very good route. It is a bit slow through the Crowsnest Pass area, but you are towing a trailer so it is not that big of a deal.

The other option would be Hwy 93 to Radium and then south to Cranbrook. The section around Radium is a bit steeper but it is fine too.

I would avoid the TransCanada around Golden if you can. It's not too bad, but the other two routes are better.

Great thanks! I think we'll take 3 on the way down and the Trans Canada on the way back. This trip keeps expanding we may never make it home

Hwy 3 over the Rockies is an easy pass.

The route that Google Maps gives using AB22, AB/BC3, BC95, US95 looks good. The pieces that I've driven would be easy RV driving.

Dragging the route north to pass through Banff (93 through Kootenay and Radium) is just a bit longer and slower. That provincial boundary is a bit higher.

You would be happy with either.
