Carp Lake Provincial Park

Has anyone done the side trip out to Carp Lake Provincial Park in BC?? What was it like?? Thinking of spending two or three weeks there on the way up.
  • If you are going to Horsefly & Likley, check out Crooked Lake Resort, south of Horsefly. Nice place! Also, think twice about fishing in Quesnell Lake as the jury is still out on pollution from the Mt. Polley disaster.
  • Been there many times. It's a provincial site with no hookups. There is water and a dump station at the entrance to the park.
I don't fish but my friends do and have had great fish brunch with their early morning catch.
The campsites are a good size and easy to get into. It can be busy on weekends. The road in is a forestry gravel road and varies lots. I've gone in while it was very good and when we came out it had rained and was very washboard. Some times 20 MPH sometimes 40 MPH. So be prepared for that.
War falls is right before Carp lake and worth visiting. The water is shallow and you can get right up to the falls. There is a little ledge that you can sit on in the falls.
All in all it is a good forestry campsite, the fishing is good. We try to get up there at least once a year.
  • I've fished Hwy 20 quite a lot. Especially the Little Fort end. And I'll be hitting that area on the way to Likely. Starting soon we'll spend about 6 weeks meandering to Alaska, 8 weeks in Alaska, and 6 weeks winding back through BC. Annually. We lived in Alaska for many years but in many ways I prefer BC.
  • Tonymull..if it's fishing you are after, all over the Cariboo are hundreds of great fly fishing and trolling lakes. Look at highway 20, west from Williams Lake, all the way to Anaheim Lake.

I have sent a note to buddy boy, we'll see what he has to offer.

  • I'd appreciate that Gary. Apparently lightly used. It is a long drive. Also plan on exploring around Likely and Horsefly.
  • I am ashamed to say never been. I can ask around for you, if you like. It sure looks nice enough.
