My wife and I are doing the trip to Alaska this year. I'm try to decide about batteries and solar for the trip. Part of the equation is how many days with out being in a campground with hook ups. For those that have made the trip were you hooked up every day, every other day. every 3-4 days, etc.? I will have a generator along so I would never be without power but peace and quiet is appreciated by everyone.

It depends on a few things, will be you using an inverter for tv's coffee pots, microwaves ect.

If not 2 6-volt house batteries and your engine battery should be fine, make sure you have a battery disconnect while parked so-as not to drain your engine starting battery. If you have room you can run 4 6-volt batteries and not even worry about solar as your house batteries should recharge on your way to your next destination.

Most private campgrounds, and there are plenty of them, have electric. Most public campgrounds do not. So it depends on where you are going. Not to mention what you are trying to power. Alaska is a place where you can get by without power at all if you are fortunate, but rainy days can get chilly.
