Fundy National Park, Alma, NB

We are planning a two-day stop at Fundy National Park enroute to our destination on PEI. With a 39 foot Class A with three slides and a toad, which would be the better choice - Chignecto or Headquarters? The Point Wolfe campground sites are too small.

  • I started a thread with a youtube video on Chignecto campsite. I'd say go to Headquarters unless you get one of the 3 way pull through campsites at Chignecto. HQ is easy to get in and out of and part of Chignecto is easy.

I prefer Chignecto because its right in the woods but can be tricky for rigs your size. HQ is still nice and easier to set up.

  • According to the Trailer Life Directory, Chignecto is open from May 15 until Oct 12; HQ is open from Jun 15th until Sep 7th. We will be there the first week August. Both have 20X50 pullthroughs; HQ only has 30amp service; however, I can live with that.
  • We stayed in Chignecto last July around this time and it was very large, divided into numerous small, curving loop roads. Seemed roomy enough for easy access for all sizes. Not very crowded at all, quiet. Free wifi reception was near the entry booth. Nice restrooms.

Headquarters CG is a few miles down the hill closer to the center of the action for the park and Alma. Would have stayed there last year but the website said it was not open. Not sure why, so we booked in Chignecto.

Note if you have the annual Parks Canada pass, you save the daily park entry fee (plus numerous fees for great attractions around Atlantic Canada.)

Roads inside the park are very good. Not so driving down from the main highway to the park. Take it slow, very bumpy unless it was fixed recently.
