Going to al from cape without going near NYC
We were planning at rip mid sep from Atlanta to Montreal and then to cape cod and back to Alabama. We want to miss major cities, and bridges and tunnels. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

If you take I-81 north ( Good route to go) then you might consider staying on I-81 north to Binghampton NY and then I-88 east to I-87 north.
I- 88 is pretty peaceful for an interstate but plenty of services. It's toll free and you can easily connect to I-87 north at Albany where it becomes the toll free Northway.
PS: Orange Beach is a fine area. Daughter used to live in Daphne, Al.
