Going to Cabo San Lucas?

After a week boondocking on a beautiful beach at Cabo Pulmo we headed to Cabo San Lucas for the week before Christmas.

We were headed to the Vagabundos Del Mar RV park.

Now those of you who have been there probably know this but I think it might help those who have not.

The Mike and Terri Church book "Camping Mexicos Baja" is not really clear on the directions coming from the North.

To get to Vagabundos Del Mar The Book says:

(paraphrasing here;) heading west take the Retorno just past kilometer marker 3 signed "San Jose Del Cabo" then go to the roundabout in front of the Wal Mart Parking lot and make a 180 heading back the way you came. go over the overpass and turn back toward San Jose del Cabo. Stay in the lateral lanes.

IN REALITY: the sign for the retorno says to "CABO SAN LUCAS". Which since you are heading to Cabo doesnt make much sense and isnt what is in the book.

However this is the correct turn and the directions are accurate except for the sign. The sign itself is actually correct as you can get to Cabo from that retorno as well as going BACK towards San Jose del Cabo.

Now Vagabumndos does not have a sign any longer. The only sign visible says:

"Welcome Snowbirds to JP's the trailer Park Restaurant."

When you get to the Chevrolet dealer slow down and get prepared to make a sharp RH turn into a gate at the very northern edge of the Chevrolet dealers lot right at the JP's Restaurant sign.

This turn and it's directions are confusing if you are reading the book and expecting a sign for San Jose del Cabo.

Keep in mind that the last Church book was published some years ago and many things may have changed since then. They do have an updates page on their website where people can post updates and corrections. If people do not let them know what is going on the info will continue to be out of date. It's up to those who see the changes to let them know so everyone can go on the website to keep updated.

Thank you, yes I have been fully aware when the book was researched and written and published. I am also aware that many things have changed. In my first update posted to this site a few weeks ago I made it clear that the work involved in writing a book like this must be terribly demanding and tedious. I also went on to point out that Many things might have changed.

If I put these updates on their site it will be when I am completely done with my trip and will do it all at once. Or I just may email the files to them and let them update it.
