Hey all.How is 50 HWY through Colorado?Going out to Lottis Creek Park. on Friday.Never ran 50 HWY past Garden City,Ks.Thanks,Dave

Lived in Estes Park, Colorado for 34 years. Now live in Buena Vista. Have driven and/or towed over nearly all of Colorado's passes. Monarch is pretty much a yawner. Has some relatively steep but short grades on both sides. East of Salida towards Canyon City, it is a bit twisty along the Arkansas River. East of Pueblo, it is just another US highway.

Since it looks like you'll have the time, you might want to consider stopping at the top of Monarch Pass. There's an aerial tram that takes you from the parking lot to the crest of the pass, and there's a snack bar and gift shop up there. The vistas are also among the most impressive in all of Colorado with a view of the lower Sawatch Range.

We were on hwy 50 the last of June. Over monarch pass, road was good.

We make that trip once a year. Good road a little narrow in some spots but not bad. Monarch pass is steep but wide and plenty of places to pull off if needed. We will be heading there early next week as well.

I just did that route in May of 2014. Road is in very good condition with passing lanes where needed.

Traffic was light with very little truck and RV traffic.

Pretty good pull over Monarch Pass. Take it easy going down.

We have also traveled US 50 many times in that area. Monarch Pass, east of Gunnison, is not bad at all. It is a beautiful area with lots of great fishing. Have a great trip.

Have traveled it several times from Montrose to Pueblo and vice versa towing my 34' 5th wheel.
I prefer secondary/back roads vs Interstate travel.
