Help with best route to Disney World

We heading to Disney World (Florida), from Baton Rouge, Louisiana and I'm looking for any advice and recommendations on two points:
1) what is the best route? Should I take the "toll routes"
2) Can anyone make a good recommendation for a stopping point(campground) mid way? Thinking around the Tallahassee area or so... Thank you

  • Thank you for the advise and recommendations. Very much appreciated!
  • Directions from workhardplayharder would be my choice. If Tallahassee RV Park is full, you can try Big Oak RV Park (I-10, Ext 199, US 27) about 2 1/2 miles north of the Interstate. Nightly rate for both is about the same. Should you get tired of driving, about an hour west of Tally, in Chattahoochee, FL, there is a C.O.E. park, Eastbank, on the shores of Lake Seminole. Just over the State line in GA., but within a mile and a half of town. IIRC, the rate is $22 or $11 with the "geezer" pass. Enjoy and drive safe.
  • I-10 to I-75 to Turnpike and follow signs once you are close to Orlando. Tallahassee RV is right off I-10 on the east side of Tallahassee.
