Highway 16/16A

any info on road grade, width and condition greatly appreciated for
Highway 16 and 16A from Custer State Park to Moorcroft in Wyoming.
Tiring to plan our first "big" trip in 33ft FW. pulling with a F350 diesel.
trying to stay away from anything too steep.

any help is greatly appreciated.
  • thanks for the feedback! just a little nervous about "mountains."

I've driven the Arbuckle Mountains here in Oklahoma but calling those mountains is a bit of an exaggeration. more like a couple hills!
  • There is a short (maybe 10 mile) section through Jewel Cave NM that is fairly narrow and curvy. It is not anything that would prevent towing. Dozens of people do it every day. The rest of it is mostly flat.
  • Will be harder coming back, but no long steep grades either direction. You will have no problems.
