Highway 50

Is anyone familiar with hwy 50 from Winchester,VA to Cincinnati,OH?
I'm thinking of using that route to get from Richmond,VA to Sault Ste Marie,MI. Thanks.
  • Route 50 between Winchester and Clarksburg, WV is a very scenic 2 lane road.......if you're on a Harley! A lot of steep grades along with some pretty tight turns. An OK route out of Winchester is rte. 522 that will take you up to Hancock, MD where you can catch I-68 to Morgantown, WV then south on I-79 to Clarksburg where you can pick up rte 50 which is a good 4 lane into Ohio that will end up being rte 32 over to Cincinnati.

Actually, I believe Robert Byrd Highway is I-77.

I think that any federal project in WV is named after Byrd. Memorial Highway, Memorial Expressway, Memorial Freeway, Memorial Parkway, Memorial Bridge. He funneled a lot of money into WV over the years.
  • I've driven 50 from Annapolis, Md to Pueblo, Co. It was great fun. Nowhere near either Richmond, VA or Anywhere, MI though.

Ok, so what about highway 50?

I've driven highway 50 from Bridgeport WV into Ohio. It's a beautiful road. Robert Byrd Memorioal highway, I believe. It doesn't go anywhere near Ste Saint Marie though. You need to take I-75 to get there. :)
