How does marina construction effect the Reef RV Park?

Does anyone know the real scoop on the marina at the Reef RV Park in Puerto Penasco? I mean, is it going to eliminate the campground, or what?

Sadly with the addition of the new port/pier at the Reef we will be looking for a new location to stay. Have no desire to deal with cruise ships! We do have our memories of past stays at the Reef and climbing the sand hill with my dirt bike next door on the way to Cholla Bay. Maybe El Golfo!

According to what the backers were saying in print last year, the appeal will be to Mexicans, who will be able to cruise the Gulf of California ports with no need for a passport.

My dad was just down there last week. Talked with the guys at the Wrecked and they said they were staying......just did some painting/remodeling.

Here is a pic of the pier so far at 400 meters long with an estimated 1200 when finished.

Thank you for all of your input. Sounds a little noisy, but maybe doable. Glad to hear there's 60 to 70 RVs there, though.

The work has restarted. The workers got paid.

Is it noisy. Depends. For us , no. For others yes. Semi Trucks and large Cat back hoes.

You can clearly hear them during the day but kinda neat to watch.

Tonight they are quiet.

The park has about 60 or 70 rv's

Thanks for all of your input. Looks like we can maybe squeeze another trip or two to the Reef. But when you're at the park, assuming the construction is abuzz, does it greatly effect the peace and tranquility, fishing at the Reef?

Yes, but Rocky Point is hardly Cozumel

They keep making more and more cruise ships and they have to dock some place. First time we visited Cozumel via RV, there were only a very few cruise ships a week there. Later we cruised there twice and there four ships a day. A tremendous economic impact for the area. Same with Roatan Honduras.

1. Maybe someone would want to visit the area.

2. Maybe someone would like to cruise to the area then visit Tucson, or Phoenix. Maybe they don't want/like to fly.

When we cruise to Italy, the ship docks in Civitavecchia which is quite a distance from Rome where we stay.

Same thing with Alexandria. Its a 4 hour bus ride from Cairo Egypt where the sightseeing begins.

Ashdod where our ship docked is about 4 hours from Jerusalem Israel.

Not saying Phoenix AZ is Rome, Cairo or Jerusalem but hey ya gotta start somewhere.

You never know what people want to do or see.
