Just wondering the best route for a 40' Coach with toad. GPS shows HWY 2 as shortest/fastest route verses south on 2 to Spokane and I90 east. I know much if not all of 2 is likely 2 lane which is ok.

ID/MT 200 is another option - it stays in river valley all the way to US93.

Thanks for the responses. I would rather try a new route as opposed to heading south to I90 and then east. We've been that route many times.

You’re right, but SR-20 heads west starting at Newport. OP is heading east.

We did that same route last spring: Newport, WA (Old American CG) to W. Glacier on US-2. It is 2 lane most of the way. Good road. Very scenic. You won’t regret it. No problem.

IF you ever need a good CG on any west trips to or from Rapid, “Jim & Mary’ CG” at exit 96 on I-90 on the west edge of Missoula. Very clean, well-maintained, nice garden displays with many pull-throughs if you’re staying only one night. Discovered it on our Yellowstone trip in ‘15 and have used it ever since.

Route 2 over Stevens Pass is a pretty good road. If you are going for fun take route 20 over the North Cascades Hiway and then through the woods and N Central WA.
