We are heading back to Denver on I-80 (we came a different route west) and were wondering if you have some suggestions on RV parks en route? Thanks in advance.

be sure to call ahead as most rv parks along there are closed during the winter.

Phillips RV park in Evanston WY has been there since the 30’s. Friendly but nothing special. Good for one night and a truck stop at their exit 6. The KOA at Rawlings is OK for a night but the KOA at Rock Springs is a last resort. Hope this helps.

We second Gold Ranch RV Park in Verdi, NV. One of our favorite RV parks in the central Sierras areas we have visited. One exit west of a big Cabella's store if you need anything there.

I-80 takes two northward loops that significantly increase your distance from SFO to Denver. One is the swing north toward Winnemucca. The other is the swing north out of SLC into Wyoming. The result is that you're traveling along a big letter "M."

It's much shorter to use US 50, I-15, US 6, and I-70. Yeah, the stretch through Nevada is desolate, but so what? You're in an RV. And Ely makes a decent waypoint to stop at, followed by a few hours of boredom to SLC.

Yup it's shorter by miles but also takes more time to get there.

What campgrounds have you stayed at and can recommend on that route?

Just curious....

Back to you question about 'suggestions for RV Parks' I assume you are looking for Parks that RVers have actually stayed at. The ones listed should meet what you are looking for.

Our home base is Reno and Gold Ranch is a no brainer.

Gold Ranch Casino & RV Resort - 10 West of Reno
Verdi, NV
Easy on easy off I-80

On a trip to the midwest we stayed at;

Angels Lake RV Park
Wells, NV
Easy on easy off I-80

Phillips RV Park
Evanston, WY
Easy on easy off I-80

I can get you as far as Evanston but our next stop was Cheyenne on I-80 so you will want to take 287 at Laramie to the Denver area.

Hope this helps and safe travels.

In addition to these suggestions, if you wanted to stay in Laramie WY before heading down to Denver, the KOA there is open year round (though the water is turned off) and is also easy off/easy on. Some highway noise, but since you likely won't have windows open, the noise will be reduced. Nice level sites there, the staff has always been friendly on our stays there.

I found RVParkReviews good if you know where you want to stop. It's less than helpful with "show me campgrounds along a route". That's when I go to Allstays and RVParky.

Don't miss Little America. You could probably stay overnight in one of the parking lots.

Thanks for your replies so far, I am aware that I-80 doesn't go through Denver (we live just outside Denver), but I-80 is by far the fastest route to Denver from Vacaville, CA, where we will be tomorrow. We are looking for something decent, not too far off the Interstate, hopefully close to a few restaurants and a grocery store. Prefer a place with easy access pull-thrus for quick in and out. Thanks again.
