So how is I10 these days? Been a number years since I've driven it and the last time I remember it being in pretty rough shape - some sections in LA were incredibly rough. Planning on heading the Florida in the fall with the 5er and was curious if it was in decent shape these days...

Thanks!

True. The last time I pulled my TT thru LA this 15 mile section was the one remaining rough spot of any length. Had to go 50 to keep from bouncing off the road. The long bridge (we call it the Swamp Freeway) isn't a problem for my rig. Also, there's a lot less construction nowadays.

Go thru Houston between 9am & 2pm, and check Houston Transtar for real-time traffic conditions. They also have an app for your phone.

There is section between Lafayette and the Atchafalaya Basin (not Bayou Teche)causeway that is rough. There is just about always construction somewhere between Houston and the TX/LA line. The rest is good. The alternatives of US90 or US190 also have rough sections. Try to avoid "rush hours" in Houston Baton Rouge and Mobile.

If you are talking about the causeway over Bayou Teche, its as rough as it ever was (I last crossed it 2012) and there is not anything they can do to eliminate joints for the bridge sections. I just settle into a speed where it jars me the least.

US-90 remains available as a longer, slower, low speed alternative between Lafayette and New Orleans.

I generally try to plan my trips to the southeast so that I don't go through Louisiana at all (some other major highways are also sub-par), coming from I-10 in Texas, Louisiana is difficult to avoid.

I 10 through Mississippi, Alabama, and as far
as Pensacola Florida is in good shape. Don't
know about further west or east.
