Indian Nations Turnpike or Highway 69 In Oklahoma

I am heading to St. Louis from Dallas. Which is the smoothest highway to take? I will eventually join into the Interstate Highway to get to St. Louis. I have not been on those roads in a long time. I am in a 40' motor home pulling a car. Thanks for your assistance!
  • I-44 is a toll road all the way across OK. Toll depends on the number of axles. $9.75 from OKC to Tulsa and the same from Tulsa to the Missouri line with a 2 axle trailer. $16.50 each with a 3 axle.
  • It is faster, smoother and much cheaper to take I-35 to OKC and I-44 to Missouri.

The road isn't exactly silk smooth, but much better than US-69, also better than the Indian Nation Turnpike - which gets expensive pulling a trailer or in a big motorhome.

I have driven many of the other roads, such as US-271 from Paris, TX to Fort Smith, AR - excellent road, but mostly two lane and somewhat twisty in the mountains.
  • Highway 69 in Oklahoma is an excellent example of a washboard. It is that way all the way down to Sherman, Texas.
  • I was recently in Fayetteville, AR and returned on 69. It's the sorriest road that I have driven on in years. I thought some Louisiana highways were bad, but this was worse. Personally, I would go 35W to Oklahoma City then the turnpikes.
