- dewey02Explorer IIWith all the recent posts about how terrible the Indiana roads and interstates are, perhaps all this construction is a GOOD thing. We can't have it both ways: Never any construction vs. Good roads to travel on.

There has been a LOT of road construction going on all over Indiana this Summer. It's been awful trying to get anywhere. Small towns to main Interstates have people scrambling all directions. It's been a nutty Summer.
With that said, I've noticed a lot more enforcement in the road work zones, more police on the side of the roads with radar our, and I've also noticed a general trend that people ARE slowing down.
Oh, there is always that one red-neck who thinks they are above the law and will attempt to ride your bumper or speed around you on a double yellow line on a curve you can't see around. But over all, there has been a slow-down in this state. I'm not complaining one bit. On I-465 around Indianapolis, there are still those dare-devils that are driving in excess of 75 - 80 mph and if running 55 (the speed limit), it's like you are standing still when they pass. But then, there are more and more running slower too.
So basically, if traveling through Indiana, police are watching. I think that's a good thing. But, there is also a bigger presence in non-work zones too as people are attempting to by-pass congestion, they are creating congestion where it did not exist before. So law enforcement is, basically, everywhere now ... and pulling people over. Almost every day going into work, I see someone pulled over.
This week-end going to Northern Indiana (Primarily drove Highway 31), saw several pulled over too. See them on I-69 as I cross over (bridges) several places between where I live and Indianapolis (I drive back country roads to work).
So basically, watch your speed. Unless you just REALLY want to contribute financially the upcoming Indiana's Policeman's Ball! - willphilExplorerWatch your speed.
