Jackson Hole to I80E

Laundry done and heading away from WiFi service until tomorrow. We are leaving Jackson Hole Friday AM so I will check back before I leave. Thanks in advance to anyone that can provide some insight.

US 26 is steep coming out of Jackson, but is less of down grade on the east down hill side. We have done it both directions in MH. Just have to watch your speed and shift down. You would then go south and pick up I-80 at Rawlins.
You do not say what your destination is.

No one in Jackson Hole knows about those roads? How did you drive into the Hole? From Yellowstone?

Not sure what you are after - the reason they call it Jackson Hole is BECAUSE it is surrounded by Mountains! There is an easy way out to I-80 if you follow the Snake River Rt 26/89 - easy gentle drive along the banks of the river till you hit Alpine then take Rt 89 South to Sage then taking Rt 36 to I-80. This is as easy a drive as possible.

The other route is through the mountains, which were not really that bad (I mean I love Mountain drives and this one does not stand out) so it must be "normal" so for most it should not be a problem.

We drove routes 189/191 in the opposite direction coming from I80 to Jackson back in 2012. The only grade I can recall on that route is a couple of miles going down to Hoback Junction. You would be climbing that grade. If you came down to Jackson from the Yellowstone south entrance, you have already experienced a similar grade.

Once done with that one climb, it's pretty flat all the way to I80 with the Wind River Mountains visible in the distance on the left side.

X2 did this last year....easy drive. This year we had a brain freeze and ended up going over Teton Pass towing 34' FW. Was very happy my DH was driving-10 % grade was a little out of my comfort zone.

I believe 26 is Teton Pass and you DON'T want to take that. Follow Busskipper's advice and go through Alpine. That's what we do.

Route 22 going west from Jackson is the Teton Pass. Route 26 going east from Moran Junction goes over the Togwotee Pass and joins with route 287 to hit I80 at Rawlins.
