Kanab, UT to Hurricane, UT

I have been following truck routes while traveling out west since it's new to me. On my map rt.389 to rt.59 does not show as a truck route although it looks like the best route. Any advice for someone pulling a 36 foot fifth wheel?
Thanks,
Steve
  • BarabooBob..I started to go through Mt. Zion about 6 weeks ago and there was a sign NO RVS Allowed. I went up to the next highway north to get to Hurricane, Utah. OP might want to check that first if thinking of going that way.
  • I personally love the northern route which follows 89 to 9 and goes through Zion. You will have to wait for an escort to get through the Mt. Carmel tunnel. The scenery is worth the money.
This quote is from Zion National Park.com
    "Zion-Mt. Carmel Tunnel Escort
An escort fee is required for vehicles 7'10" wide and/or 11'4" tall or larger which usually includes all RV's, buses, trailers, 5th wheels, dually trucks, and some camper shells. Escorts (rangers) are stationed at both sides of the Zion-Mt. Carmel Tunnel to direct traffic. During winter months, escorts are arranged at the entrance stations. The hours are posted seasonally at kiosks before you enter the park from either direction, but it usually late March through late October, escorts are usually stationed at the tunnel from 8am to 8pm daily and in November the time shortens to 8am to 4:30pm. The fee is good for two trips through the tunnel within 7-days.
