Knoxville To Branson

Anyone have any input on the route 40 then 24/60 Between Knoxville and Branson? We have traveled 24/60 years ago and I was thinking there were some issues around Paducah trying to get through there.

Also is 24/60 a drive through many towns/stoplights?

Is there a better alternative? Such as 40 to Memphis and then through Jonesboro up 412? This looks like a 2 lane road and wonder if anyone has driven it.

Any suggestions appreciated, Thanks so much!

    Thanks all.

We came south that way last time we were out to Black Rock AR (Lake Charles SP). US-63 was fine, just a few small hills no sharp curves. I-55 into West Memphis was very rough, one bump was bad enough to unlatch the trucks hood!
  • Thanks Grey Mountain and bartlett, I'm thinking Knoxville to Memphis I-40, then 63 to Jonesboro and then 412 through Walnut ridge and on over to 65 at Harrison...Hilly is not so bad, hairpin is another issue.

  • You can always take I 40 to Conway Ark and then US65 to Branson. 65 is good 2 and 4 lane highway.
  • Drove I-40 from just west of Nashville through Memphis Monday. No construction. Construction west of Memphis in a couple of spots.

  • Thanks Jayco, sounds like a good idea...There seems to be quite a bit of construction on 40 between Knoxville and Memphis, I like the idea of going to I55 and up and bypassing Paducah as well.
  • I would take I-40 to Jackson TN. Then US-412 thru Dyersburg TN, and I-155 across in Missouri. US-412 is mostly straight and flat across Arkansas till west of Walnut Ridge AR. Gets hilly after that, but probably not any worse than US-60 across Missouri.
