LaPine to Lakeview Oregon on 31?
We are towing a 33’ fiver. How is this route compared to going through K Falls to Lakeview? Thanks!

- It is the best way to travel through eastern OR via Summer Lake and Silver Lake, and Paisley. Decent road, no traffic and plenty of wildlife. I take that road to get to Seattle from Nevada. I like to sleep in the Fremont NF SE of Bend as it is halfway.
- 140 climbs over a modest mountain range. 31 stays the valleys. Around Summer Lake it gets into Nevada like basin-and-range. Summer Lake hot springs is a nice stop.
- The first 10 or so miles are fine. Then there is about 20 miles of pretty rough road. Then its fine again. Its a beautiful and interesting drive. If you have time, stop at FT Rock State park and walk around. Cowboy dinner tree at Silver Lake is a great meal. 30 dollars each cash only for a complete meal. You do need reservstions and there are only two choices. Steak or chicken.
