I have been camping for many years but I just bought a brand new 2018 F-150 and new Gulfstream travel trailer. I live in Northeast Pennsylvania and I’m looking for a good road trip route with good scenery and cool stops along the way. I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a week to 10 day road trip with the camper, leaving out on Northeast PA.

Assateague Island on the Md/Va line for two nights, wild horses and Sika Deer in the campground, then down across the Ches Bay bridge tunnel and into Va. Beach, First Landing State Park for a couple of nights, Virginia Marine Science center, and go to Downtown Norfolk to tour the WWII Battleship Wisconsin, and next door at harborside you will have some different shopping and food options available. Then on to Nags Head NC to see the Wright Bros Memorial and try your hand at hang gliding. Back to the North to Chesapeake Va to catch I-64 west to Williamsburg for a couple of nights touring the recreated colonial village. Before heading back up to the frozen tundra.

You could comfortable drive 1000 miles one way, driving 200 miles a day for a total of 2000 miles over 10 days. From Scranton, PA, you could travel that distance easily, if you drove only 4 hours every day at 50 mph. You could travel from Scranton, PA to Kansans City, Iowa. Or to West Palm Beach, Florida. Or anywhere North East including all of Maine and a BIG chunk of Canada. Or as far as Warroad, Wisconsin (and all of Canada North of that too!)I suggest, pick any spot East of Kansas City, Kansas and throw a dart at it. Let that be your destination point! Divide that distance by 5 (5 days driving there, and 5 days driving back). Study the maps and take a slightly different route back home. Drive, spend the night at a KOA, easy in, easy out. Explore the area where ever you park for the night. Next morning, move on, explore another State Park, another attraction, another town or city 200 miles or so farther down the road. If you are like me, the real fun is in the driving. I personally enjoy the driving, towing, and navigating, maybe even more than the actual destination. Good luck, and enjoy! deep creek lake not far from you ,just roam around from one camp to another.

How soon?One possibility that comes to mind is a stroll down Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Parkway and through Great Smoky Mountains NP, and then back. Probably it would be best to wait a bit longer for warmer weather, I'd guess.Upstate New York has a lot of beautiful varied scenery. Some combination of Letchworth State Park, Watkins Glen (and other things in the Finger Lakes region), the Adirondacks, and the St Lawrence Seaway and thousand islands area could make for a great trip...perhaps also Niagara Falls, especially if you haven't been there before. Again, it's still early for most of these areas.

Recommended the south coastal trip because I thought you were thinking soon, and looking for warmer weather. If your looking for later, ie May-July, then the Skyline Dr, Blue Ridge pkwy with stops in Harpers Ferry, Fairystone State park in Va and Blowing Rock NC for the Tweetsie Railroad and the blowing rock park. Leaving it in Asheville NC after visiting The Biltmore Estate and going back through some of Ky for the Bourbon tour stops. Just remember that after Memorial Day, most stops need to be planned for reservation issues.

Go up the east coast to Maine and into New Brunswick and possibly Nova Scotia. That's a trip I'm crossing off my bucket list in the next couple of years.

Was gonna suggest something like what DrewE said. Watkins Glen KOA, Letchworth SP, Alex Bay NY, Lake Placid, Lake George, Turning Stone (Verona NY). However, I do like the trip that kerrlakeRoo did up.

How about Rt 6 across the top of Pa? Lot's to see like the Lumber Museum, Kinzua Bridge,Kinzua Dam, Pymatuning Lake, the Pa Oil Museum at Titusville.Some great state park camping at Hills Creek,World's End,Pymatuning State Park or National Forest Camping at Kinzua Dam.
