Looking for a park around Sequim and Olympic park

The problem with the last few cg suggestions is that they aren't really that close to where the OP wants to stay.

One of Washington's State's nicest and most scenic campgrounds.

For the very best VIEW of the Strait of Juan DeFuca, google Salt Creek Park, a hidden Clallam County Park with RV (first come basis) out on State Hwy 112.

We liked Elwha Dam RV, not far from Sequim, and we really liked Hard Rain RV near the Hoh Valley.

Gilgal has been our summer RV park for several years, really an adult park, nothing for the kids to do, no toys or pool, however very convenient. We also enjoy Hurricane Ridge, Crescent Lake and the drive to Sol duc Hot Springs area. If you have the time and energy drive over to Forks and LaPush, or possibly Cape Flattery.

WE have never camped there, even though it is about 30 miles from where we live. Here are a few random facts about the area.
The 'E' is silent, so it is pronounced 'Skwim'.
It is the driest place on the coast in the Pacific North West, because it is in the Rain Shadow of the Olympic mountains. At an average of 16" PA, it is slightly less than Santa Barbara.
The centre of the rain shadow is about 1/3 of the distance between Sequim and Victoria across the Juan de Fuca Straits. It is believed that this point gets about 8" PA, less than what a desert gets(10")
You can walk on a ferry at Port Angeles and have tea and crumpets in Victoria on a day trip there.
The drive up to Hurricane Ridge is fantastic.

There is a lovely park just South of there called Rest-A-While RV park. It is not much of a park, more like a full hookup parking lot, but the view is spectacular, your window looks out over the Hood River Canal. We stopped once years ago and finally returned this Summer for a second visit.

Have stayed at Rainbows end a couple of times. It can be a bit tight,but is so much closer to town. There are also several membership parks nearbye. As far as seeing the park,that's a larger undertaking which involves several moves. If you're wanting to do that,you'll want to start at Hoodsport with a trip up to Lake Cushman and the Staircase area. Then up around the Hamma Hamma river area and next is the Quilcene side trips. These are all road trips that will let you see some of the outer edges of the park.Once you get to the Port Angeles area,the views are absolutely awesome from Hurricane ridge and then there's the Elwha River,where they are taking out the upstream dams and you can see what is happening there. Another couple of days can be spent visiting Neah Bay,the Forks area,the Hoh river and then down to Lake Quinalt. It's a trip that can take a day or so,but you're not gonna see much.There are pretty nice campgrounds all along the way.

We've looked at JohnWayne Park and wasn't too impressed. Looks like it could use a face-lift.
GilGal RV Park is crowded but an improvement over the JW.

For the last few years when in the area we've stayed at Rainbows End RV Park. Good folks who run it, but its busy too. The nice ones always are.
