You could by a package for both the US & Mexico for the first transit overlapping, then look for a US based travel policy to cover your transit back. There are annual policies out there that will cover you for a certain number of consecutive days in the US which will likely be enough, then just get a separate policy for Mexico or just rely on Medipac. Get a Spot tracker and their medical evac policies are much cheaper than Medipac. BC med will cover to what it would cost in Canada, but if you get taken to one of the more expensive hospitals in Mexico it wont be enough. Medipac is also only OK if you can fly. If you have a heart attack its possible you can't.
