Milwaukee to Orlando later this week

Traveling from Milwaukee WI to Orlando later this week.
Looking at taking I-57 out of Chicago, then I-24 and I-75 down.
I was wondering how road work was along the way.
Any detours or route changes I should consider.
Also noting some internet traffic about hard to get fuel in Georgia, should I be concerned in any areas of travel on this?

Thanks
Mike
  • It's hit or miss here now, most stations have some. But there seem to always be some that are out.
  • Thanks for the responses. The motorhome holds 100 gals of fuel, so I should be able to get there in two tanks, but will probably stop about 4 times along the way to stretch/walk around.
  • Your route is my preferred way from Chicago to Orlando. It's about 30 miles longer, but less congested and that means less stressful driving. You avoid Louisville, Indianapolis, and the more hectic portions of driving around the south end of Chicago.

Both routes still have pockets of construction on them.

How big a fuel tank does your Discovery have? I would worry about fuel not construction, especially along the Interstates once you get to TN.
  • Run your route through Google maps. It will show you all the areas where there is construction.
  • You have internet so check out each state's DOT site your passing through for road construction easist way. I will suggest taking Briley Parkway around Nashville.
As far as fuel affected by the pipeline leak just start looking at 1/2 tank that's what we did on our way to Alaska last year.
