http://www.swpc.noaa.gov/ovation/North_New.html - sue_tExplorerThe scenery is outstanding in the winter too. This time of year, we have daylight from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. This week, clear blue skies without a cloud to be seen. Absolutely stunning in the brilliant sunshine!

Ahhhh ... and January 2014 sunrises and sunsets! Far more colourful than the northern lights!
http://suethomas.ca/20140111_SunRise&Set.html - OrionExplorerIt doesn't have to be the winter to see them, just dark!

Me too! It's on my bucket list.
The problem is one can see the Northern Lights in the Winter, or the outstanding scenery in the summer/fall. Most including me have choose the Summer/Fall. I want to do both. . . .:M - MerrykaliaExplorer

- crabbin_cabinExplorer IIThanks Sue. Friends in Calgary have told me that that display has been showing as far south as Calgary!! Can't see them here in AZ - darn it!
- cpurvesExplorerHi Sue:- We loved in the Yukon in the early 70s. Saw lots of shows like this. Thanks for the memories, these are great shots.
Cheers
Chris - sue_tExplorerDale, I was pointing the camera in every direction. The lights were intense across the whole sky and moving very fast! Set the shutter down to 5-6 seconds, otherwise the colour was too blurry.
As the lights became quieter at 11 p.m. and I was going inside, I took a shot from the deck looking south across the valley. - RoyBExplorer IIGreat photos - We used to see the Northern Lights when growing up in SOuthern Illinois back in the 40s-50s.
Havent really seen many since then. Saw a touch of northern lights only one time here in Virginia.
