Later part of September We will be pulling our TT from Parker Arizona to Lancaster California. Trying to avoid Freeways we are looking at taking Hwy 62 from Parker to 247 to Yucca Valley then 18 to Apple Valley then El Mirage Road to Lancaster. We like to travel the back roads rather than the Interstates if at all possible so my question is how is this route from Parker AZ to Lancaster CA for pulling a travel trailer? or are there other suggestions. ๐Ÿ™‚

1. From Parker go to I-10 then go west
2. Go north on 1-15 just past Palm Springs.
3. continue north to 395 to Hwy.58. Go west on 58 . Watch for signs to Lancaster, turn south.
There are other routes going through Yucca Valley just out of Palm Springs. But use google maps or Good Sam trip planning before you just take off. Lot of back roads and you have to watch signs close on where to turn.
4. Fill up your fuel tank in Indio.

I assume you're visiting friends/family in Lancaster (because why else would anyone go to Lancaster)? Ask them about the last leg of your trip. The Antelope Valley is laid out on a grid, but not every road goes all the way through. There are some features out there like an airport, Edwards AFB, and the El Mirage dry lake that might block your progress.

There are decent highways that aren't freeways. The 58 on the north end is a good road from Barstow to Mojave. On the southern end of the valley is the Pearblossom Highway (138?). They're both good roads and I've towed on both of them.

Good road and lots of stoplights when you get to civilization. Fill up with gas before you leave.
