Parking along the coasts are allowed. But better be early. At 7am, it's already back-to-back with RVs, trailers, motorhomes... I'm hoping that the current craze for RV ownership and thus the crowded California campgrounds are just temporary effects of the pandemic, and that some folks are going to regret buying an RV and will stay home or fly to Europe or whatever.Unfortunately, my unscientific sample is leaning the other way. With all in the family being all vaccinated, including the 12-year olds, I am somewhat relaxed and would sometimes not bring my mask at all. But I'm comforted with this extra precaution of safety remembering that even Cali have their Covid deniers and anti-vaxxers..And compliments to the state, your budget surplus is not just going to roads (and education I heard with the restoration of after-school programs) but on state, regional, county and city parks improvements as well. Out for a quick trip for supplies.

Again amazed that these Californicators, anarchists and freedom loving libs, are still wearing masks and having high level of compliance even before the opening.

Which may not be a bad idea either. Some family members suggested we continue to wear masks as all of us also escaped the flu and colds which usually visits a few of us every year.

CA announced grand opening today.

Never been out yet from the campsite so I don't know how it is..

But yesterday, everyone is still wearing mask -- even some as soon as they leave their cars.

Seems to have served the state well with the quick drop in Covid cases and deaths.

Renee, that is very encouraging about dry camping. I hope you are right.

And Mike, that is a very good point about the "cabin fever rebound" phenomenon -- maybe this summer is the high water mark for demand, since there is so much pent-up demand in addition to the newbies. More hopeful insights!!

Local experience. Not everyone out right now is a newbie. A LOT of people are tired of staying home and being restricted. So any chance they have they are getting out. Just going to the beach is insane, and the weather hasn't been great. A lot of people who have RVs have been parked for 18-20 months and it's go time. NOW add the newbies.

Give them time and they'll tire of it. Really. I've seen that with acquaintances who go gung ho a year or two then peeter out. Plus, they prefer hookups whereas we prefer dry camping. Saw it over the Memorial Day weekend, hookups booked and dry camping areas a plenty.
