Edited to say the prices in the post are for Magna.

We just returned from a two-week trip through Nuevo Leon, San Luis Potosi and Guanajuato. Gas prices ranged from 15.44 to 16.15 for Magna. The spread is really moving around.

I sent an email to GasBuddy asking if they thought they might be adding Mexico to their website in the next few years but no response. I'll have to send it again.

We found many, many gas stations remodeling under the OXXO Gas and Petro 7 names along with some independents. Pemex signs are slowly coming down.

I don't have a clue what is going to happen but it is a welcomed change. We haven't seen any major price changes. Those that are published are not taking into account seasonal products and the price of avocados is affecting the bottom line.

Anyway, it was a fun trip without any issues and I have posted some great pics on the blog of our El Salto State Park in the south of Nuevo Leon if anyone is interested. The road there was very good and they now have a gas station in the south of the state. There weren't any before and there is a stretch of 200 kms that didn't have any and you bought from people's houses not knowing what you were getting.

"Newspaper Articles" are some of the POOREST sources of information about Mexico in the business.

Why?

They have a dog in the fight.

So do many Mexico forums

They lose money when information can harm their source of revenue.

So called NEWS reporters sit on their --- and make telephone calls to sources that have a dog in the fight.

I have attempted over the years to pass on inside information about Pemex while protecting the identity of my sources. They WILL get fired or even worse if their identity is compromised.

I posted about the fraudulent news reports about ULSD refinery modifications. I was soundly denounced on this forum. My info has been proven correct.

Pemex is near bankruptcy. Ditto

The inaccuracy of assuming foreign gasolineras means foreign fuel. Ditto.

ULSD availability in Baja California. Ditto

ULSD UN availability in Baja California SUR. Ditto

Spurious availability of UBA at "selected" gasolineras. Ditto

I do not have a dog in any fight and frankly folks I am tired of the denunciations.

It's better if you folks revel in pure "official" BS.

I wouldn´t use the term discredit, it´s people not posting facts. Forums in general are coming to an end with the advent of Facebook. FB is easy to post on, add pictures, and follow specific posts and replies.

Correct me if I´m wrong but this has been said on the other forums here on Good Sam and the affiliates.

Rving in Mexico is slowly dying and I haven´t seen but a handful of rvs this year on any of my trips, in fact, I could count them on one hand. More and more people are flying down and renting. That part is sad. Not enough quality rv parks, aging rvers, people who have read all the negatives about Mexico and now with the political situation even more are scared off. All the regulars we used to hang around with haven´t been back for at least three years with no plans to do so. JMHO.

Briansue: You bring up an interesting comment. Unfortunately Forums become mature and the posters are the opposite. The core members who used to post have left the forum after being harassed or some know it all tries to discredit everything they post. I also notice not very many newbies. I think they are afraid to post. What a shame. There are some very good RV forums such as IRV2. But no real Mexico RV forums.

You don't seem to have any problem typing out lots of long winded posts with lots of other digits - another 17 is not much at all. But you could just put in the name of the source - newspaper or whatever - then we could search that source for the specific article. This is not a big deal and you would be providing much more useful information than just your personal take on an issue.
