Road from Patagonia, AZ to Patagonia Lake SP?

Does anyone know if the road (Patagonia Lake Rd?) that connects highway 82 just south of Patagonia is paved? Is it a treacherous route? Garmin Basecamp doesn't route me that way in RV mode, but it does in Auto mode. It's a long, long, long way around back to I-10, Tuscon and back down I-19 to Patagonia Lake SP.

Thanks,

  • To get to Patagonia Lake State Park from Sunsites on Hwy 191 you can go south on 191 to McNeal and into Tombstone. Then continue west on 82 to Huachuca City to Sonoita and to the state park. It's all good paved. Patagoinia is a beautiful park and if birding is your thing you'll have plenty to look at!! Have fun...
  • We'll be heading over to Patagonia Lake State Park from the Sunsite/Pearce area on 191.
  • The road is used as a truck route between nogales and hwy 90 so yes the roads are good. but when you say "south of patagonia" hope you are referring to the lake as the roads south of patagonia if they exist are dirt/FS roads.

Dont know where you are coming from but the route between I10 varies on which way you want to travel. Hwy 90 from Benson, 83 from the vail exit, or I 19 to 82 are almost negligible in distance from one another. One is interstate, the other is 4 lane (90) and the other (83) is a scenic. Lot of Motorcycle traffic on weekends on 83 and 82 is used by truckers to save a few minutes from going to TUCSON to I10 east. BTW ther are BP check points on all of these routes so be forwarned.
  • Thanks for the info. I'll be heading that way on Sunday.

  • It is a secondary 2 lane paved route. Dont know what you mean by treacherous but I would not classify it as such. Been over it many times with 35ft. MH and toad.
