Roads from Moam UT to Ridgeway SP CO ?

Hi,

We'd like to travel from Moab UT to Ridgeway State Park in CO.

The lady at Ridgeway said that the route 191, 46, 90, 145 & 62 was the most scenic route but the road is fairly narrow and winding. But she said that it was OK for RV's
We have a 28' TT towed by our suburban.

Can I ask for opinions on this? Is this route REALLY OK?

We've followed advice in the past from campground staff and ended up on roads that I wouldn't take my bicycle down! :-) So this time I'd like to get a few more opinions.

Thanks for the help!
  • Dallas Divide on 62 may be 9200, but Ridgeway is 7200. The distance is 10 miles.
  • 145 is a good road but slo & curvy. The scenary isn't that great but ok. U'll have to cross over the south side of the La Sal Mtns after leaving 191. On 62 U'll have to cross over 9000' Dallas Divide Pass. I'd go up to I-70 and down 50.
Ridgeway is a beautiful park. Ask attendant about the Owl Creek road. Its a very beautiful drive on a very good gravel road from Rt.550 just east of Ridgeway and goes up to Rt 50 near of Black canyon of Gunnison Nat' Pk. Make sure to see that park. Montrose is a very nice town with everything U'll need. Walmart. Buy gas at City Market.
  • We have also done that route a few times with our 40' motorhome towing the Jeep. We like drives like this so no problem. It is, like the lady said though. Many RVs drive it.
  • i have done it both ways in a 40 footer with a toad no problem.
it is very scenic 2 lane roads.
  • I towed my 16' TT with my Highlander the opposite direction on that route 2 years ago. I don't recall anything that would give you trouble. Highly recommend the route for its scenery. The way the sandstone changes colors as you move up and down in elevation through the layers is really something. From the San Miguel River E for about 15 miles or more it's steadily uphill, but not a tough grade.
  • That is pretty narrow and windy but yes - scenic! The easiest and most direct would be 191 to I70 , east to Grand Junction and south on US 50 to Montrose. Your choice!
