Route 88 and 17 through NY and PA to Austinburg OH

Planning a drive west out of NH. First leg ending in Austinburg OH

Was initially planning going via Buffalo 90 west

but now thinking

Route 88 through mid NY into PA route 17 to Austinburg.

Has anyone been this way before? Pro's / Con's?
thanks
  • Thank you. Great advice...I think we'll avoid the rough stuff and just go I90 through Buffalo...thanks!
  • I traveled I 17 last month it was very rough around the salamanca area about 10 miles or so. Other than that it was ok.
  • 88 to Binghamton is a nice drive. Been years since I've been on 17. Used to be a good route when it was newly expanded years ago.
  • How will you come down to I-88? That could make a difference.

The Thruway (I 90) from Albany to Buffalo is a good ride but toll road. Roomy rest stops with full service fuel, food etc.

I-88 to Binghamton is a good fairly low traffic interstate beyond that 17 (I-86) has a rep as rough and parts are not finished but I cannot speak about it since I haven't gone that way.

It sounds like a pretty long first day.
