- joelanExplorerI traveled I 17 last month it was very rough around the salamanca area about 10 miles or so. Other than that it was ok.
- BillMFlExplorer88 to Binghamton is a nice drive. Been years since I've been on 17. Used to be a good route when it was newly expanded years ago.

The Thruway (I 90) from Albany to Buffalo is a good ride but toll road. Roomy rest stops with full service fuel, food etc.
I-88 to Binghamton is a good fairly low traffic interstate beyond that 17 (I-86) has a rep as rough and parts are not finished but I cannot speak about it since I haven't gone that way.
It sounds like a pretty long first day.
