RV Temporary Registration Not Acceptable for TIP
We had tried to find the answer to that question and had answers both ways - yes - i a temporary registration is acceptable to bring a travel trailer into Mexico. No - it is not allowed.
We called Banjercito in Mexico City and asked: Yes - it is allowed.
We went through the border crossing at Nogales and were refused at KM21 citing that a temporary registration is absolutely not allowed to get a TIP for a travel trailer. We spent quite some time checking and double checking and some other folks who were native Spanish speakers (my Spanish is not so good!) offered to help so we double checked again. The official answer:
A temporary is acceptable in USA - it is absolutely not allowed in Mexico for a travel trailer.
Back to Arizona we go now to wait until the Oregon DMV finally decides to mail our permanent title. They said once that they had mailed it already only to find it was the wrong title...
Oh, well - life continues :)
