I am taking my first RV trip on late March. An 8-day trip form San Antonio to Taos, and back.I will be using RV Parks in:For 1-night stay:1. Lubbock TX or Amarillo TX. West of Odessa is Monahans Sandhills State Park. It is usually empty (at least when we have been there) and is incredible. You can camp right up next to the dunes. Kind of remote feelings. No sewer hookup but it is a beautiful. Be sure to walk outside on a clear night and enjoy the stars.

Palo Dura Canyon SP is great, but more like a 2 nighter to enjoy the canyon rather than an overnighter passing thru.If you are thinking of visiting Carlsbad Caverns, we stayed at the KOA north of Carlsbad. A bit far out but the nicest RV park I could find in the area.

If you want to stay on a budget. Littlefield, Texas has a great RV park owned by the city and is available for free or a donation you want to make. This is the Waylon Jennings RV Park. This great little place has 10-12 spots. I have always found a spot for the night 30-50 amp with water. Only about ¼ mile north on 385 from 84.

X2 On Littlefield/Waylon Jennings...fast food available and a good route to Taos via US 84.

It will likely still be freezing at night in Taos during March. You might want to stay at a lower elevation and drive up there. Between Espanola and Santa Fe there are RV parks associated with several Casinos that are good value and an hours drive from Taos. Road Runner RV park link is one but there are others.

I would definitely stay in Garner vs. Parkside so you can really enjoy the setting - even if it's only for one night. Parkside is fine; it's just more of an "RV Park" with close spaces, as opposed to a "campground" with lots of room. If you've never stayed in Garner, you'll really like it.

Also: Palo Duro Canyon is really nice but I agree it's not a good overnight stop unless you just happen to be driving through Canyon, TX.

Also liked Santa Fe Skies RV Park in Santa Fe. And BTW - there's a good public parking lot in downtown Santa Fe (1 block from the plaza) that has big spots for RV's. We drove our motorhome down there - a bit tight in places, but there were bigger coaches in there too. You might even be able to boondock in there overnight, if you're so inclined.

Great! We considered to visit both Taos and Santa Fe!!!

Anyone knows both Garner SP and Parkview Riverside?
Any recommendations on where to stay?

It would be a shame to miss Santa Fe. Both Taos and Santa Fe are among our favorite places to visit. Even if you stay at Taos, a day trip to Santa Fe would be easy to do. If you do that, you should take the old "high road to Taos" (as it is called in Santa Fe).

We usually stay at Taos Valley RV park and in Santa Fe at Santa Fe Skies RV.

Our Amarillo stop is usually at Overnight RV Park.

We would stay in Garner because we have the Texas State Park annual pass, and prefer state parks. We will be staying at Goliad State Park tomorrow night on our way back from the Valley.

To visit Lubbock we stayed at Mesa Verde RV Park in Wolfforth, TX. Near Carlsbad is Brantley Lake State Park.

We stay at an RV park on West side of Lubbock just off Hwy 84. In Carlsbad NM, there is a state park on North west-side of Carlsbad about 15 miles from the cavern if you plan on visiting it. There is an RV park closer at turn off to the craven but looked not well taken care of.
