Safest Route Denver to Eugene

One ton dually hauling a 37'/ 13 K lb./ 5th wheel, first week in September. Looking for the (safest) route with the least and smallest amount of grades.
I-70 to I-80 or the more northern route of I-80 to I-84.
First leg coming from Florida to Denver, we will use I-70w.
This entire trip will be our first time pulling this 37'.
Baptism by fire. New life in Oregon.

Thanks for any imput.

  • Pick up I80/I84 to the Oregon border. At Ontario get on either 20 or 26 to I5 at Salem and turn south about 50 miles.
  • I-25 north from Denver to Cheyenne, pick up I-80 there in Cheyenne and head west. Then the prior recommendations.

You can also cut off some time/distance by getting off I-25 at Exit 269 for Fort Collins, taking CO 14 in to Fort Collins and follow the truck route to US 287 (E Mulberry St, to Riverside Ave, to N College), then take US 287 north to Laramie. It will save you some time and you'll avoid the big winds on I-80 from Cheyenne to just east of Laramie -- it's always windy there! However, "Wind" is the state motto in Wyoming ! !
