Seaside, Or. to McMinville, Or.

I will be traveling from Seaside, Or. to McMinville, Or.

I have been told of 3 routes.. so confusion is the mode for today.

Seaside toward Portland on Hwy 26 then so. on hwy 47

Seaside back down coast hwy 101 to Otis then over hwy 18

Seaside toward Portland on Hwy 26 to hwy 217 at Tigard take hwy 99 south.

Been told my 35'Class A with tow would be a problem on hwy 47.

I've also tried to find out road conditions as someone said there
was construction on 47 or 99. I will be traveling on July 18th which
is a Friday leaving Seaside about 11 a.m.

Thanks for helping this old grandma...

  • I lived in Portland Oregon my first 35 years. I don't like to drive in the Portland/Beaverton area anymore so I would take 26 east to 47 south. Dick
  • Avoid 217 like the plague.

This former Portlander prefers the 101-to-Otis-to-McMinnville route, a pleasant drive that avoids all major metro areas. The only "hazard" I can think of along that route is that the little town of Dundee (just before McMinnville) is a notorious speed trap. The limit drops all of a sudden, and before you know what hit you, Barney Fife is rearin' up in the rear views!
  • After traveling to and from the coast through Portland last summer, I would do just about anything to avoid towing a trailer through there again.
  • I would do Hwy.18.....nice road and for a break....stop at Spirit Winds Casino in Grand Ronde on the way.
  • Highway 101 to Highway into McMinnville very easy route. Dundee is east of McMinnville, for the record.

    :S

Yer right, of course. Mixed up Newburg and McMinnville- I guess because the time Barney Fife nailed me I went through both on my way to Portland!
  • I have traveled hwy 47 in my previous 30' MN towing my toad with no problem. I have a friend who lives off 47 and he travels it all the time towing his TT.
Like other have said don't take 217 & 99 especially on a Friday afternoon. Dick

    X2.
This is the best way to go, not as much traffic. I travel this route a lot through out the year.
  • 18 to 47 is your shortest route. 2nd choice would be 101 to18, then stop at the Casino for their Friday buffet. Enjoy your trip:)
  • I would take 101 south to Hebo, then 22 to La Ronde and 18 to McMinville.
