We too sold our fiver in Alberta a couple of years ago and bought our current one at a dealer there and brought it home. We had also made the arrangements ahead of time.
I would think you won't be able to get a BC plate for the trailer until you actually register it in BC and of course pay the tax..,. :M
I think you're on the right track with AMA and getting a permit to get it home. When we bought ours it took talking to several insurance agents before we finally found one that knew what she was talking about.
