Thinking about going the Reno Air Races

Anyone have any advice for a first-timer? Are there any hookups near Stead? Are roaming water and honey wagons available for dry camping? Are bikes recommended to get to the gates from camp sites or are there shuttles?

I'm sure I'll have more questions later.

Looks like the races were 9/13 to 9/16.

I knew that. Saw something about the races and it's been on my bucket list since I was the races here in PHX 20 years ago. :B

  • Thanks, guys. FWIW, I checked, and there =is= dry camping on the airport with water and honey trucks available. I can tell you, after reading reviews on campgrounds around Reno, there's not many I'd consider staying at.

  • There are not a lot of RV parks around the north end of Reno. I would consider the RV park at the Grand Sierra casino. They have shuttles around.

I don't know of any dry camping. Check the Reno Air Races website.
  • Hope you're planning for next year. For those who don't know, the races were over last weekend.
  • I think the closest rv park would be the KOA at Boomtown Casino off I 80 OR Bordertown Casino off Hwy 395. You would have to contact the reno air races to find out your other questions. Don't think there is any area for dry camping.
