Québec City has rentals and a paved bike trail along the shores of the St. Lawrence, one circuit starts from the ferry landing, crosses the Québec Bridge and then comes back to the ferry landing in Lévis and cross back over... ~26 miles

Ooooh! That one sounds good! It looks like that is only a half hour up the road from Quebec.

Another neat one is when you are heading east on the 132, just as you pass the church in Lotbinière you go down a hill and there is a restaurant, La Marée Haute and right there is a field and you can camp there and the ask a donation of $5.00, you camp on the side of the Rivière-du-Chêne at the mouth of the
St. Lawrence

This is not an O.T., but just a thought. I live in Lévis and tourists come to Q-city, visit the Montmorency Falls and go to Ste-Anne-de-Beaupré but the road ends there. This is sad because within 20 minutes, they are in Charlevoix Co. and believe me that is a place to be explored and Baie-St-Paul is an artistic municipality, art is big there. The beauty of this county in something like you see in books. Also, you can do a day trip down there but you might regret not taking a two day trip. It is a well known area to us locals but we don't see many licence plates from outside of Québec. I'm down there four-fivetimes a year and even in the winter.

Other old stones and interesting wodden building can be found in Ste-Rose (Laval),just north of Montreal. Terrebonne, in the same general area, also has some very interesting building. But the ''meca of old buildings'' is between Quebec City and Ste Anne de beaupre on''Avenue Royale'', believed to be one of the oldest street in Canada.

I think some of you have that confused with hoi-polloi, which are us commoners (well ok, I'll speak for myself).

Many of the old stone buildings date back to the 1700's and most of the area is protected under heritage regulations. You can still find the odd stone house for just under $1M but renovations are a whole different animal. Too rich for my blood! :B

When I was a kid in the late 50's, my Mom would attend the old Ste-Famille Catholic church along the waterfront and drag me with her. My Dad, being Protestant, would bring his fishing gear and fish off the park across the street! :E

None intended, PackerBacker (I'm a 50 year PackerFan too!). I was referring to the riverfront area, around the Ste Famille. Some really elegant old homes along there. I doubt they're in my budget!
