Picturing I-95 coming south from Balto, at about 2PM, the southern/eastern loop down to about 7PM is faster and somewhat quicker than the 'counter-clockwise' route up and over towards the northwest.
Hello,
I'm traveling in a 40ft. motorhome with a cargo trailer in tow, which direction am I better off taking around the two beltways?
Baltimore & Washington
However, as has been noted here and elsewhere, avoiding the area altogether is usually recommended - study US 301 south through the Delmarva, or even US 13/113 south through Delaware to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel to Norfolk and then out to Emporia to hook up with I-95 again.
There are options.
