If possible, spend some time in Olympic Natl. Park. Wonderful sights. Also, Sol Dec Hot Springs was really nice, with cold and hot pools and boondocking. If you're there in summer, check out the wild blackberries just growing everywhere in the region.
Check out the Evergreen Air Museum in McMinnville, OR. The Spruce Goose is there, and they let you park two nights free in the lot.
Tillamook, OR. has the famous cheese factory and a great air museum housed in the largest wooden blimp hanger in the U.S. Oregon also has the beat state parks probably anywhere.
Idaho has places that you can get lost at--and still be on pavement. True story; 100 yards off a remote highway in the mountains, the elk were making so much noise, they woke me from a good nap.
