Waterton National Park

If you're coming here and don't know already, Cameron lake road is closed for the season, due to road work and tree clearing. Red Rock Canyon is open and has a brand spanking new road going up to it. Cameron Falls road, in the townsite, is now open. Brand new road there also. Just opened up yesterday. Road work is still being done in the area and also on the lakeside of the townsite campground.
  • To add to the last poster's info. on Waterton. There is a hiker's shuttle going up the Cameron Lake road several times a day to the various trail heads but there is no other vehicle or bicycle/pedestrian access up the road for the season.

Also, while we were there a week ago there were wind gusts to 106 km/hr one night. Never leave your awning up or things like chairs out in the open or they could be gone in the morning. It is a lovely place but notorious for gusty winds.
  • Powder pig, you're right about the high winds. We thought we might be getting them last night. We had T storm and then some good winds. Got the 5er slides ready to bring in just in case. They died down before bedtime. The Calgary/Okotoks area got a lot of hail yesterday and roads had to be plowed and there was flooding around the Anderson area also. We are just north of the Park gates.
