- SLOW-1ExplorerI usually wait until Jupiter to save a few $$ too.
Last summer we came back from the Keys by driving up 27 through the middle of the state to around Orlando, we really enjoyed the scenery. I recommend it if you are not in a hurry. - tegu69ExplorerFriends of mine went down to Homestead for the races a couple of months ago and missed a turn and wound up on 836 missing some of tp tolls. They took the tp home. They were in their 38' Dutchstar not towing anything and paid what they would have paid driving a VW. If they towed a VW, it would cost them 3 times as much.
- IvylogExplorer IIILast week I was in the keys and I used 95 all the way to/from Miami. Got on 395/836 over to the TP for the last 40 miles. Mid day traffic was not a problem in either direction until I got on US 1 south of Homestead. Even with a SunPass the tolls on the TP are ridicules. Even getting on at Jupiter it's $23 for four axles.
- tegu69ExplorerI generally get off at Jupiter(Indiantown Rd.), easy off and on and to save on tolls. When you get to Miami, it seems there are tolls every few miles. If your towing, they don't double the toll, they triple it for some reason.
- mguayExplorerI use the Ft Pierce exit to jump over. By the time we get there both truck and 5er are covered with salt and road grime so we hit the Blue Beacon next to Pilot.

- fla-gypsyExplorerFt Pierce is the safe switchover point. If traffic is light you can wait a little longer.
- Bill___KateExplorerFt. Pierce is the easiest as from there I95 goes out to the west a bit, and the Turnpike is a more direct route. That intersection also has a decent selection of restaurants and service stations.
You can go down I-95 to Jupiter if you want to save a little bit of tolls - that's the next place the Turnpike comes close by. Both exits are well marked.
We like to stop for diesel at the last service plaza before the Keys (about mile marker 19) because it is easier in-and-out than the stations once you get off the Turnpike .... - J2ExplorerThanks
